Virus Hoaxes

" Attention! ", The cries of email. " There is a new virus turning, and Microsoft said it was the worst yet! " After this astonishing bit of hype, e-mail continues with " Once this virus infects your system, remove any files on your hard drive, Restart your computer clock, and make your screen will only show green and black! "
Anyone he has done so far is then asked to " forward this virus warning to everyone you know! And " " Remove any email you get with the title " Have a good day! "
This e-mail has all the signs of a virus hoax.
First, viruses are not magic nor omnipotent. Yes, because it can damage your data. Viruses have been known to erase hard drives, deleting documents, including classified documents with interest at random email addresses. However, to date, only a virus (CIH or Chernobyl) has been able to damage the hardware. CIH found a way to override the BIOS, or read-only memory
Second, viruses are identified by their programming, and not by the title of the e-mail that is attached. Once word went out to erase all messages with that title, the developer of viruses just change the subject, and everyone would have to send another virus warning for a new virus, which looks exactly like the previous except for the subject line of email.
Third, if Microsoft (or any other big name, company, for that matter) wanted to get the word out about a new virus, since on its website, and ask everyone not to forward e-mail messages. Airing emails are very inefficient, because some people only check their e-mail once a week. At the time he received the warning, the virus had been fired and destroyed his computer!
The best advice on false warnings of viruses is " not pass through them. " The great flood of emails useless do so much damage as viruses that warn about.
